How To Get University Admission Without Jamb In Nigeria

There are thousands of Nigerian students who are searching for university admission without JAMB because of many reasons.

These reasons may be a mistake on their part or even from others beyond their control.


There are several reasons why you may be seeking university admission without JAMB such as:

a) You Didn’t Take JAMB

Well, this is not surprising as I have seen a couple of persons who never wanted to take the JAMB exam.

b) Poor JAMB Result

Maybe you have taken JAMB exam but failed to make the needed score, then you might be among those students on the lookout for university admission without JAMB.

In fact, many persons have sat for JAMB on many occasion but still could not make the needed score.

c) Failed Post-UTME Screening

You may have scaled JAMB exam but did not do well in the post-UTME screening which is a pre-requisite to gaining admission into many Nigerian schools.

d) Unknown/Other Reasons

There are some persons who cleared their UTME and post-UTME but still could not make it to their dream schools.

This might be due to incomplete credentials at O’level and at other times, some unknown reason.

a) National Open University of Nigeria

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is one of those who went through the school.

To gain admission to NOUN, you just need your O’level result, pick a course of your choice from the school and you’re good to go.

b). Go to Private University

Another way you can gain university admission in Nigeria is if you pick a private university as some of them do not need UTME.


The  Interim Joint Matriculation Board is an A’level program which runs for 8 to 9 months and upon completion, qualifies you for 200 level into any university.

Some private organizations and universities run IJMB which needs nothing other than your O’level result with five 5 credit.

d). Take a Professional Examination

Many universities in Nigeria take professional courses like ATS as an admission requirement.

One of such schools is the University of Ilorin that accepts ATS for direct entry into accounting.

e) Run A Diploma Program

To gain university admission without JAMB, you take up a diploma program in any school.

This can be a National Diploma (ND) from a Polytechnic or university which qualifies you for admission into 200 level with only your  O’level result.

This diploma program runs for two years.

f) Run A JUPEB Program

Some schools as UNILAG, and UNIBEN run the JUPEB. With the JUPEB program, you gain university admission without JAMB into 200level via direct entry the following year.

So, instead of giving up on getting admission into any school of your choice, you can pick up kindly apply for JUPEB program in any of the schools that offer it.
